Swan Lake Reprise

Seth from The Altered Page has sponsored a marvelous blog train idea called Buried Treasure.

I chose to reprise this bit of buried treasure that because of timing, didn't get as many views as I'd have liked.
The theme at Sunday Postcard Art was Swan Lake. This is my digital interpretation of Odette, a ballerina princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse.

  1. Diane,
I have my own Swan Lake Tale, but there is nothing to visually represent mine. Forty-nine years ago on the Fourth of July, my sister stepped backwards off of a dock at Swan Lake, Montana, and went immediately to the bottom. I being the big brother, jumped in and for the next five minutes I almost drowned with her. She lets me know every year how much she appreciates the fact I almost drowned, for if she'd been alone, she would have. I swim five days a week, but have a deathly fear of the water and cannot open my eyes even with goggles on.

I like your card, whatever it is called. It is strange however, how even the mention of Swan Lake causes certain reactions in ourselves. For you perhaps, it is the longing to dance, and I must say - you dance beautifully.

  3. Yes, I am glad you dug your beautiful dancer up for a second showing. I think timing has a lot to do when posting in challenges. The early bird (or swan) catches the worm!! The first rush of entries promotes a rush of comments which taper off later in the week. (Have I mentioned before that black swans are native to my part of the world and they are certainly not on the endangered list!! We have thousands of them!!
Thanks for showing us your Swan Lake picture again. I enjoyed reading your friend's story of how the words "Swan Lake'still affect him deeply due of his near-death experience so many years ago.
