Pheasant

This piece is for this week's Artarazzi challenge. We were given a picture of sake barrels. I chose to make them the deep background layered under a couple of dover images and a Japanese proverb that I found very enigmatic.

  1. Beautiful piece. Great job of blending the Dover images, Diane. That Japanese proverb sounds strangely like another one I've heard: The sticking up nail gets pounded down. Sounds like they are saying that if you call attention to yourself or brag, you may get shot down, figuratively or literally.

  2. Beautiful work, Diane. It reminds me of pheasants in England which have the most raucous calls. They are beautiful looking birds but they draw attention to themselves. It is considered "a sport" to shoot them which is hardly sporting when they are usuall on the ground and completely vulnerable.

  3. Hello Diane - thank you for visiting my blog. I am paying you a return visit. Interesting piece of work you have put on and an interesting motto at the bottom - we live in The Yorkshire Dales in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where pheasant shooting is very big business. I liked the comment because here they rear pheasant in theit thousands and once the shooting season starts the pheasants very quickly learn to keep quiet and run in the undergrowth rather than shoutout and fly! I suppose it is a good maxim for life too! Shall put you on my blog list. Please call again.
